Course Description

Computer Assisted Reporting teaches the use of computers for creating and analyzing data. It goes beyond mere typing of news report with computer systems or using computer software to design and edit news stories. Specifically, the CAR course entails web searches, abilities to use e-mail attachments, navigating news groups, setting up of list servers, down loading of web files and analysis of data bases.

Course Objectives

The course aims at exposing every student to how to use computer resources and other ICT tools to report and write news stories. It gives the students the full opportunity to be familiar and engaged with various new communication technologies tools and terminologies.

Qualification to be awarded

Diploma Students: Professional Diploma in Computer Assisted Reporting 
Intensive Professional Development Course (PDC) students: Professional Certificate in Computer Assisted Reporting 

Who Should Attend

Journalists, freelance journalists or anyone who want to learn or become a Computer Assisted Journalists.

Course Duration

3 months for diploma students, 4 days for Intensive Professional Development (PDC) students

Taught Mode

Available in both classroom and distance learning.
3 months Diploma Course available in both classroom and distance learning.
Intensive Professional Development Course (PDC) available for classroom only.

Course Fee

350 Great Britain Pound Sterling for diploma students, 300 Great Britain Pound Sterling for PDC students        

Course Start Dates

3 months Diploma Course classroom mode: March, June, September, December
3 months Diploma Course distance learning mode: students can enroll anytime as admission is on continuous basis
Intensive Professional Development Course (PDC): Courses are run on any four days on a monthly basis. Students to contact the School office for days.

Minimum Entry Requirements

GCSE O’ level or equivalent
Good knowledge of computer and the Internet

Assessment Methods

Assignments and open book exams
