Course Description

New media is the general term given to the constantly changing way in which entertainment and information is being delivered to consumers. In many ways, it is a moving target but at present, it encompasses the internet, WAP phones, digital television and set top boxes, as opposed to the traditional means of communicating like newspapers, analogue television, books and analogue radio (sometimes known as the old media). This course is an entrant to the world of New Media and provides the rudiments and fundamental knowledge of a variety of digital media. It teaches the application of theories and concepts from diverse fields to new media production

Course Objectives

The course aims at exposing every student to the world of new media. It goes beyond mere introduction and students stand a good chance of being familiar with a complete picture of what new media is. Above all, the course gives the students a full dose of the fundamentals of new media.

Qualification to be awarded

Diploma Students:  Professional Diploma in New Media 
Intensive Professional Development Course (PDC) students: Professional Certificate in New Media

Who Should Attend

Journalists, freelance journalists or anyone who want to launch themselves to the new media.

Course Duration

3 months for diploma students, 4 days for Intensive Professional Development (PDC) students

Taught Mode

Available in both classroom and distance learning.
3 months Diploma Course available in both classroom and distance learning.
Intensive Professional Development Course (PDC) available for classroom only.

Course Fee

350 Great Britain Pound Sterling for diploma students, 300 Great Britain Pound Sterling for PDC students        

Course Start Dates

3 months Diploma Course classroom mode: March, June, September, December
3 months Diploma Course distance learning mode: Application can be made anytime as admission is on a continuous basis.
Intensive Professional Development Course (PDC): Courses are run on any four days on a monthly basis. Students to contact the School office for days.

Minimum Entry Requirements

GCSE O’ level or equivalent
Good knowledge of computer and the Internet

Assessment Methods

Assignments and open book exams
